Event Details
The phrase Wa Jeun, meaning “come and eat” in Yoruba, is an invitation for friends, family, and strangers to share a meal, reflecting a cultural practice of care, connection, and nourishment. As the African proverb says, “One who eats alone cannot discuss the taste of the food with others.”
The workshop will include hands-on cooking demonstrations where participants learn to prepare culturally relevant African, Black, or Caribbean, (ABC) meals using healthier ingredients and techniques, without compromising taste or tradition.
During each workshop will feature an interactive session led by a health expert on related topics that disproportionately affect Black communities, such as stress, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
You can register for a session. Please note priority will be given to individuals who are African, Black, and Caribbean. Individuals who identify as IPOC may apply however topics will be ABC focus. Limited space for each session.
Only 1 registration per person. Please note duplicated registrations will be cancelled.
